Meeting of the Panel of Judges.

On August 11-12, 2010, in Nuevo Nayarit, Nayarit, Mexico, The panel of awards judges ,comprised of Billie Miller (Barbados), Julio Maria Sanguinetti (Uruguay), Carmelo Angulo (Spain), Luis Osvaldo Maira Aguirre (Chile) and Ernesto Zedillo (Mexico), selected the winning candidates and finalists.

First Place:Fundacion Mundo Mujer.

Fundación Mundo Mujer is a non profit organization affiliated with the National Plan for Microenterprise Development, the Women's World Banking organization the Colombian Association of Institutions Affiliated with the Women's World Banking organization, and the Redevelopment Microfinance Network RMF MIF/FOMIN.

It aims to improve the quality of life of poor working women and their families through easy and timely access to credit and other services, employment generation and increased assets and revenue for their clients.

The organization is an agent of change that improves the socio-economic conditions of the communities they work withthrough a creditculture of commitment and progress. At present, their contribution focuses on the provision of credit services to women and men in adverse socioeconomic conditions, who do not have access to formal banking services due to the informal nature of their businesses.

Second Place: Un Techo para Mi Pais.

Un Techo para Mi Pa?s is a real estate management organization that began in 1997 in Chile to address the housing situation of marginalized populations.

Its main objective is to improve the quality of life for families living in poverty by offering emergency housing and enabling the implementation of social housing plans, in a joint effort between young university volunteers and these communities. Currently it has a presence in 18 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, has built more than 70,000 emergency housing units , and mobilized a total of 250,000 young volunteersunder a single commitment: to transform the reality of thousands of families living in poverty.

Third Place: Comunidades de la Tierra.

Since 2004 Comunidades de la Tierra is dedicated to business development, rural business incubation, the development and creation of community groups, mainly for women in low-income communities, to transform them into successful entrepreneurs with access to the market. Its mission is to create sustainable businesses in rural communities that generate local sources of income, value ancestral cultures and recover ecosystems. They have helped over 1,500 people and they are supported by the Dutch government, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the World Bank.

Meeting of the Panel of Judges.

The first call for the Vidanta Foundation Award has had a wide impact: 261 presentations were received from all the countries of Latin America, the U.S., Spain and much of the Caribbean.
The awards ceremony was held on October 14, 2010 in the Auditorium of the National Museum of Anthropology in Mexico City .
