The Vidanta Foundation Award was created through a joint initiative of the Organization of American States (OAS), the Ibero-American General Secretariat (SEGIB) and Fundacion Vidanta. The purpose of the Award is to recognize and support outstanding, original projects carried out in Latin America and the Caribbean to reduce poverty and inequality, combat discrimination and promote sustainable development. It also works to spread efforts and share ideas with the goal of:

  • Developing greater knowledge and capacity in the field.
  • Influencing public policy decision-making.
  • Creating greater awareness and mobilizing public opinion on key issues related to poverty, inequality, and discrimination in Latin America and the Caribbean.
  • Promoting humanitarian values and solidarity in the general population, and
  • Encouraging philanthropy and corporate social responsibility

Candidates are evaluated by a Panel of Judges comprised of distinguished experts in the field and are judged on the following criteria:

  • Innovative concept or execution.
  • Measurable results or impact.
  • Capacity to be continued over time and be replicated in other places.
  • Environmental sustainability.

The prizes will be contributed entirely by Fundación Vidanta
