The seminar was held on November 10 and 11 of 2005 in the Museum of Latin American Art in Buenos Aires, MALBA, Constantini Collection. The objectives of the seminar were:
To analyze the political, institutional, and legal factors that help to understand the differences in the political and economic development of Latin America and the United States.
To promote a substantive debate on the subject among internationally-recognized academics and politicians from Latin America and the United States.
To publish, in Spanish and in English, the works presented in the seminar, and thereby promote the formulation of public policies that contribute to the economic development of Latin America.
