First International Congress of Thesis on Non-Classical Work

The Congress took place on March 6, 7 and 8, 2019 and was co-organized by the Seminario sobre Trabajo y Desigualdades (TraDes), la Asociación Mexicana de Estudios del Trabajo (AMET) y la Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM). During the Congress, several researchers presented their thesis. The dissertations were divided into 12 topics with a total of 36 sessions in which 113 speakers participated. Among the topics that were addressed in the sessions are unpaid domestic work, the work of Uber drivers, tianguistas, youtubers, outsourcing and the importance of care work.

As part of the Congress activities, three keynote lectures were given by researchers specialized in labor issues: Carlos Alba Vega (El Colegio de México) spoke about "Globalization from below and popular commerce"; Mary Goldsmith (UNAM) presented a paper on the "Experiences of Organization of Household Workers in Mexico" and, finally, Tania Espinosa (Representative in Mexico of Women in Informal Employment: Globalizing & Organizing [WIEGO]) presented the conference " WIEGO: Wrestling experiences. ”A six-hour mini-course on Non-Classic Work also took place, which was taught by Dr. Enrique De la Garza (UAM-I).
