Discussion Forum “Latin America and the regional and global governance: The requirement for a Latin American thought”, led to the formal launch of the Council on Foreign Relations in Latin America and the Caribbean (RIAL). The forum was held on October 16th, was chaired by the former President of Chile, Ricardo Lagos, and was attended by José Miguel Insulza, Secretary General of the OAS, Heraldo Munoz, General Secretary of the UN and Deputy Director UNDP, Beatriz Paredes, former Senator of Mexico, and Victor Rico, Special Advisor to the President of the CAF. The seminar was co-organized by the following institutions: Center for Research and Teaching in Economics (CIDE), Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), Latin America Development Bank (CAF), Organization of American States (OAS) United Nations Program for Development (UNDP), Ibero-American General Secretariat (SEGIB) and the Vidanta Foundation.
