The first workshop of the project "Latin America: Integration or Fragmentation?" took place May 15, 2006, in Washington DC at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars. The objectives of the workshop were: Bring together a group of high-level experts to exchange opinions and ideas about the state of international relations in Latin America with the goal of defining various lines of investigation on the issue. Reflect on Latin America's role in the international system, the main opportunities and challenges that the world order presents to the region in the first decade of the 21st century, and the state of intra-regional relations.
