Mexico is undergoing a humanitarian migration crisis that requires immediate and effective responses. The size, complexity and transnational nature of the challenge demand the coordination of efforts among governmental, private, academic, social and international actors from a regional and international perspective, emphasizing the migrant as a subject of law.
In view of this challenge, the project aimed at articulating, from the academic point of view and in intense dialogue and agreement with the public, private, social and international actors, informed public policy responses and social intervention, in order to create synergies among the relevant actors in terms of migration.
With this objective, the organizing institutions convened an interdisciplinary group of experts - from Mexico, Central America and the United States - on issues of development, migration and international relations to discuss and elaborate updated diagnoses on the migratory reality in Mexico and the dynamics of the migratory system in Mesoamerica and North America, to identify proposals for public policy and attention programs that respond to the persistence of problems faced by migrants in each of the different aspects of the phenomenon: emigration, immigration, transit and return.
