The Panel of Judges for the Fundacion Vidanta Award met on September 6 in Quintana Roo, Mexico, to choose the winning institutions for the corresponding prizes for the year 2013. The Panel was comprised of: Carmelo Angulo, Rebeca Grynspan, Nora Lustig, José Luis Machinea, Luis Maira, Billie Miller and Julio María Sanguinetti. Prior to their meeting the Pre-Selection Committee met in the same place on September 3 and 4. Its members were Jorge Sanín, Director of the Department of International Affairs of the OAS and Juan Alejandro Kawabata, Public Policy and Institutional Strengthening Advisor for the Ibero-American Secretary General.
“Contributions to the reduction of poverty and inequality in Latin America and the Caribbean” Award:
First Prize: Asociación Colectivo Mujeres al Derecho, Colombia (Women´s Rights Collective).
Second Prize: IXIM, A.C., México.
Third Prize: Proyecto Trangénero, Ecuador (Transgender Project).
“Recognition of Lifetime Achievement” Award: Fundación de Beneficencia Hogar de Cristo.(House of Christ Charitable Foundation, Chile).
