The International Seminar "Development, Integration and Cooperation in a Globalized Caribbean" was held in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, on November 10-11, 2012. The meeting was organized by the Center for Research and Social Studies of the Ibero-American University, the Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), the Institute of Caribbean Studies of the Puerto Rico University, and the Vidanta Foundation; and was sponsored by Vidanta Foundation. The seminar was opened by Mr. Chancellor of the Dominican Republic, Carlos Morales Troncoso, at the headquarters of the Diplomatic School of this country. The overall coordination of this activity was carried out by Dr. Wilfredo Lozano, Director of the Center for Research and Social Studies of the Ibero-American University.
On November 10, 2011 the President Leonel Fernandez hosted a Welcome Dinner, at the National Palace, for former Presidents Julio Maria Sanguinetti of Uruguay and Ernesto Zedillo of Mexico, authorities of Grupo Vidanta and Fundación Vidanta, members of the Jury of the Fundación Vidanta Prize "Contributions to the reduction of poverty and inequality in Latin America and the Caribbean," 2011 edition, and participants of the International Seminar "Development, Integration and Cooperation in a Globalized Caribbean"
