Dr. Roberto Russell, president of the Fundación Vidanta, has been invited to become member of the Advisory Board of the Latin American Program at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars. The Wilson Center is a non-partisan, non-profit organization in Washington, D.C., committed to addressing current and emerging challenges confronting the United States and the world. The Center provides a neutral forum for advanced research and open and informed dialogue on issues of public policy. For more than three decades, its Latin American Program has earned a reputation for excellence in the scholarly and policy consideration of issues of democratic governance, poverty and inequality, citizen security, international relations, foreign policy and conflict resolution and human rights. The Advisory Board will consist of corporate and civic leaders, philanthropists, scholars, and former public officials from throughout the Hemisphere. Like the existing advisory boards of the Mexico Institute and Brazil Institute, its purpose is to provide overall guidance regarding the content and direction of programming, identify key issues for further exploration and foster partnerships with other institutions in the region and the United States. Dr. Tabaré Vázquez, former president of Uruguay, will serve as Chair of the Latina American Program Advisory Board.
