On August 28 the Panel of Awards Judges of the Vidanta Foundation Award met in San Jose del Cabo, Baja California to select the institutions to receive the 2012 awards. The judges were: the ex-President of Uruguay, Julio Maria Sanguinetti, Dr. Jose Luis Machinea, ex-Secretary General of ECLAC, Ambassador Carmelo Angulo and Professor Luis Maira. Prior to the meeting, the Candidate Pre-Selection Committee met in the same place on August 25, 26, and 27. Its members were Jorge Sanin, Director of the International Affairs Department of the OAS and Juan Alejandro Kawabata, Public Policy and Institutional Reinforcement Advisor of SEGIB.
