Iván Chávez is Executive Vice President of Grupo Vidanta, Mexico and Latin America’s preeminent full-service tourism developer, specializing in entertainment, resort destinations, luxury hotel brands, golf courses, real estate and tourism infrastructure.
Ivan Chávez is a prominent business leader in the Mexican tourism industry. Chávez, who joined Grupo Vidanta in 2007, has wide responsibilities including the domestic and global expansion of the company's resort development interests and large-scale entertainment attractions. He has assembled a world-class team of professionals and actively participates in all aspects of the company, including strategic planning, design, construction, operations, sales, marketing and partnership development. From the imagination and concepting phase to determining the look and feel of the entertainment resort experience as well as ongoing operations, Iván Chávez is driving the company to new heights and has successfully placed it amongst the global elite in the industry.
Since joining Grupo Vidanta, Chávez has overseen the launch of Vidanta’s ultra-luxury resort brand, Grand Luxxe, which has been recognized with the 5 Diamond Award by the American Automobile Association (AAA), the world’s most respected hospitality quality rating system.
In addition, Iván Chávez is responsible for forging strong partnerships between Grupo Vidanta and a variety of global leaders. Recently, his leadership in the new collaboration with Hakkasan Group resulted in a complete transformation of Vidanta Los Cabos to offer a reimagined experience in entertainment. With four new dining and venue concepts, including OMNIA Dayclub, Herringbone, SHOREbar, and Casa Calavera, this $150 million partnership between the two companies is raising the bar to new heights when it come to lifestyle luxury vacationing in Mexico.
Iván Chávez pioneered the relationship with Cirque du Soleil which led to the first resident show in Mexico titled Cirque du Soleil JOYÀ, a first-of-its-kind permanent theatrical and culinary experience in Riviera Maya. Also in the works are partnerships with top global creative innovators to develop new, large scale themed immersive experiences.
Son of Grupo Vidanta founder Mr. Daniel Chávez Morán, who founded the company over 40 years ago and remains an inspiration for innovation and progress in Mexican tourism, Iván Chávez graduated from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science in Economics and double major in Real Estate Development and Entrepreneurship. He is a member of the Forbes Business Council.
